Mo Kwotz Beechaze

It's all about recognising when the hurt is making you stronger and when it's just plain hurt.

He who angers you conquers you.

Experience is what you get when you don't get what you want.

Democracy is the only system that persists in asking the powers that be whether they are the powers that ought to be. And, Politics is the gentle art of getting votes from the poor and campaign funds from the rich, by promising to protect each from the other.

Information is not knowledge.

Advice is what we ask for when we already know the answer but wish we didn't.

Advice is seldom welcome, but those who want it the most like it the least.

There are two ways of spreading light: to be the candle or the mirror that reflects it.

Holding on to anger is like grasping hot coal with the intention of throwing it at someone. But what you don't realise is that you are the one getting burned.

For every minute spent in organising, an hour is earned.

Cowards give excuses.

Imagine never even thinking "I am alone" simply because it has never occurred to you to think that there's any other way to be.

Men talk of killing time, while time quietly kills them.

None of us are as smart as all of us.

True friendship comes when silence between two people is comfortable.

Time stays long enough for anyone to use it.

People only see what they are prepared to see.

If you are on the right track, you will get run over if you just sit there.

A common mistake that people make when trying to design something completely foolproof was to underestimate the ingenuity of complete fools.

Warm is cooler than hot: literally and otherwise.

We all want to be different and that's what makes us all the same.

In true love and true friendship it's not important that you share everything. What is more important is that whatever you share must be true.

We live in strange times and places: each in a universe of our own. The people with whom we populate our universes are the shadows of whole other universes intersecting with our own. Being able to glance out into this bewildering complexity of infinite recursion and say things like, "Oh, hi, Ed! Nice tan. How's Carol?" involves a great deal of filtering skill for which all conscious entities have eventually to develop a capacity in order to protect themselves from the contemplation of the chaos through which they seethe and tumble.

It is essential to differentiate between what feels right, looks good, feels good, looks right, is right, feels wrong, and looks wrong.

In the quest of defining what is the right kind of love; since there are many forms of love, see not what makes you feel comfortable, but what gets you all agitated, because that is THE one, the one which has power over you is the strongest kind of love.

For harmony don't harm any.

No one can yank me out of this divine delirium. This has come from a million moments spent knowing myself, the person that I am. And now that I know the truth about my being, about the true reason why I am here, I feel that no element in the Creation can relinquish me from this aura of pure bliss that allows me splendid feelings of oneness with all the forces of the Universe.

Limitless and baseless love. And it will remain in me all through the entirety of my profound existence, growing stronger by the moment. It is only you that I have, to pacify my tumultous emotions and I feel blessed that I can turn to you to exploit my need for nurturing comforts. My love for you sustains every upheaval caused by time and distance and stays stubbornly in position as a rock on the shore of angry waters.

We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence therefore is not an act but a habit.

The happier people can be, the unhappier they are.

If you were told and believed to be true that, the amount of tears you shed are equal to the amount of laughter up till now, what would you remember to be significant regardless of this fabricated statistic, the laughter or the tears?
This question is along the same lines of the half empty half full perspective.

There's nothing that cannot be pursued. You just have to have an open heart and mind and not let anything or anyone bog you or your enthusiasm down. If you believe you can, nothing else should come in your way. Everything encapsulates your realm of possibilities. The world is ready to have you and the curtain's ready to open. They're all waiting at your feet for your greatness.

Tears Tears Tears

Tears are a sorry and sad excuse as well as a substitute for an incomprehensible and elusive wave of emotion. You cry when you are overcome with emotion. But do any of us really know what our tears mean? What feelings they stand for?
You cry when it's too much to take; When the world as a whole seems to encapsulate your emotional being and all you can do is cry. A real person cannot hold back tears. And when I say real person I do not intend to offend fake people. I am only stating the obvious that for you to cry, or to express any emotion for that matter, you need to be very alive and in touch with reality. Babies cry because they don't know any better. Adults however only cry when that's all they're reduced to doing. It's primitive instinct to regress into childish behaviors when we are experiencing the extremes of emotions such as joy and pain.
The idea is to make crying an emotionally gratifying and light heartening experience. Crying never made pain worse. It only made pain less hard to bear. And it should do just that.

God Oh God!

Somehow there is a god or godliness in the small things.
Like lying in the dark, listening to the ever droning tick of the clock, it is just reassuring somehow, that there is activity happening, life is around.
That's God in small things.
God is, in my eyes, a symbol of assurance.
We only turn to God to feel good, happiness, contentment, all assurance that everything is good, and if anything isn't then everything will be good.
God is hope. Not a person, not a high fatherly figure as such. Just a omniscient guide.
I guess that's what I believe; in the God of small things. Lucky coincidences, miracles, the melodious systems like sunrise sunset, the way Nature is so beautifully synchronized all the time.

Mood Writings

We all need our screen savers. It helps us feel good about ourselves. We need to feel like we're in control of our lives. A natural kind of contentment towards the way things are around us. Our unchanging relationships, constant self assurance of who we think we are; all these things help us keep our sanity. These form the basis of our reality. We take these things for granted because it never threatens; it is quiet and seemingly unimportant but it forms all that we are.
It is when realization creeps in that it all slowly starts falling apart. One by one, everything you've ever taken for granted, ever unconditionally believed in, starts to threateningly question it's presence. You start realizing things about yourself you'd only before shrug off when mentioned before. You start to consciously despise what you've done, what you do, even though you try and make yourself not to do in the first place. Soon, you start jeopardizing all these relationships little by little. You don't like what you are anymore. The screen saver is crumbling. You feel hopeless; helpless. You start writing in horribly jumbled 3rd person tense; trying to make sense of things. Trying to weigh it all on your head. Try and keep the sand from slipping through your fingers. With whatever little pretense you have retained you like thinking writing about it will make it any better. As much as you can deny it, you know deep down this is change. You are changing. You also know deep down that you are angry. So very angry. You wish you weren't here. Wish you didn't have to try so hard to be normal. You wish you knew what's making you this angry. Now you feel like writing this was fruitless like you'd imagined it'd be. You want to immerse yourself in a corner and just read all day. Not face anybody. Not talk to anybody.
It's so loud. It's unavoidable. You try hard to shut it all out. Find some quiet within. Conquer this feeling. Be bigger. Stronger. Understand. Forgive yourself.

Just because you don't want to doesn't mean you have to
Although wanting to does not always require you to have to
Sometimes you need to just because you have to
And sometimes you need to just because you want to
And I don't want to anymore
When I wanted to know I wanted to
But once I knew I couldn't I realized I never truly wanted to
You never truly want what you cannot have
You never can truly have what you want

Romanian Sunrise & Kenyan Orange

Imagine somebody so grand that their delightful presence shakes your very soul

Imagine that person emanates a light beautifully incomprehensible; a delicious culmination of overwhelmingly brilliant colours

Imagine being stunned by that one's astounding grandeur; feeling a magnetic pull towards the magnificence of their humble aura and being so naturally transfixed you couldn't utter a word or even want to

Imagine feeling so enormously ecstatic that you could float weightlessly into the blue of their limitless sky

Imagine a life whose being alive in it self constitutes the purpose of living

Imagine that person is you

Patriotism (A meek & feeble attempt at some sensational journalism)

In view of the recent applause-worthy display of greatness on the part of our Indian athletes in the CWG, I was propelled to think about and question my own patriotism. In a country where Sachin Tendulkar assumes the place of a demi-god it is clear how proud we are of our country's successes. However, this pride is wholly based on patriotism. What is patriotism? It means "great love for one's country". That definition makes me wonder where this love comes from. I think that patriotism is just a scam. It wouldn't come naturally to you. The same way we feel good about ourselves when we achieve success, is how we are induced to feel when our country does. Thus we strive to do things(or do we even bother?); win laurels for our nation. In the bargain, the government earns some goodwill but more importantly its ego of feeling like it's the best is massively appeased.

That explains why, in our schooling days itself we are influenced to feel patriotism every time we sing in chorus the national anthem; every time India wins a big cricket match(can't think of another example!). The concept of being against one's country is ridiculous! One thought that stems from negativity towards your homeland is considered to be wicked; your existence is looked upon as undeserving. Your country is supposed to be like a Mother. We are meant to feel proud to belong where we do. How can you not like your own land, right?

There's nothing wrong in being patriotic. It's great even. It just is hypocritical when we pretend(?) to show extreme pride in our country's achievements but not vote or do anything in our own capacity to be a worthy resident of society. Worse still, we shrivel up our noses in disgust when we happen to be passing slums which form a major part of our city life.

Patriotism has lost its honourable glossy sheen. Long gone are its glorious days when dying for your country was counted as one of the single most noble act. Stories of Bhagat Singh and Gandhi have lost its charm and have been reduced to marketing gimmicks for movie makers to oversell the great freedom fighting history of our country. Nowadays in theaters we are compelled to the obligation of abandoning our cozy recliner seats and steaming hot nachos and we giggle frivolously when we are to stand reluctantly for merely three minutes to pay our respects to the national anthem.

So ask yourself, are you really patriotic? Or is it a feeling only aroused when you see some positive feel-good news somewhere that extinguishes once the hype of the occasion dies down.
Do we only take pride in our achievements and not do anything to fix the real problems? Worse, do we even acknowledge these grave problems?
You want to contribute? Well then at least care to cast your vote to the lesser-corrupt politician if not stand for elections yourself!
Do your bit or don't call yourself a patriot.

Swedish Pineapple

Tethered and twisted;
Tethered and twisted I lay in the sand.
Fumbling and tumbling and lost and down on the ground,
Groggy and bloody and clumsy.
I am unreachable.
I am wasted and thrown.
Blotched are my scars of the night.
I am broken beyond repair,
Nobody asked you to come fix me.
You couldn't even if you tried is one thing,
I'd rather you not is another.
Untimely is this occasion.
Blasphemous is this situation.

I am where I am
You're where you are;
And you're where you are

Twisted and devious
Jumbled and knotted

You are
All that you are
I am
All that I am

Look now, there your carriage goes
Without you
Run after it lest you miss it

Why should I, you question,
When it won't stop for me?

I give you that knowing look you know so well
And say
For if you don't it shall leave you behind

You then give me a knowing look I know so well
And say
I'd rather be behind if it means being with you.

The Sadhu Guy

Today I sat unoccupied when the idea of a new blog post stuck. Of late I've felt very preoccupied and busy. No time to just sit down and wallow in your own thoughts as such.

There couldn't be a duller start to this blog post. I predetermined that I would start my new post with a bright, interesting, in your face line that would engage my readers, which I have grown to believe I am in serious lack of. Then I thought, how important is it to me to have a gazillion readers anyway? I don't think it's THAT important. As long as I know the people I want reading are reading, it's enough.
And that applies to everything else.
I was never like that before. Maybe that signifies maturity? Ha ha
The fact that I would think myself to be mature just because of this means that I am not, really. Why is it the common belief that only when you're older you can be wise? Wisdom is not age specific you know.

The other day, when I finally got my TV fixed, after MONTHS, I sat down and for a few minutes grew accustomed to flipping to my familiar channels. 29 for Star World, 5 for VH1, you know the drill.
Then I randomly started going through them all, and came across DD National, which I consider to be the most unwatched channel. There was this guy, bearded and all, typical sadhu and a bunch of teenagers sitting around him. My first highly judgemental impression of him was that he's this know-it-all preacher that would annoy me with his brainwashing tactics. But then he spoke ENGLISH! I know it's no big deal for a sadhu guy to speak English but I guess it was something about the way he spoke, impeccably, that I had to stay on and listen. Controlling a strong urge to pee I sat there listening to him, the questions the "youth group" directed to him, almost enchanted. Although nothing he said was new to what I'd heard before, he kind of clarified a few old thought processes I was beginning to think I hadn't had at all.
I really liked a few things he said and am going to list down them for future reference. And for your reading pleasure, of course. :P

Time is a relative thing. It depends on your emotional state. When you are truly happy and content with everything in the world, time flies, and that he said, explains how all these sadhus can sit in the mountains for hours on end, undisturbed and blissful in that heightened state that meditation tends to invoke. On the other hand, when you're down in the dumps, depressed, bored (I shall come to the "bored" thing later), all the negative shit, then time couldn't move slower.

He also said (I am keeping his name secret for the end :P) that it has been medically proven that as you grow older you become stupider. I don't want to rub this in as a full on fact and use it in certain situations because: although you become stupider, no one can beat the effect and understanding of life that experience brings with age. A child is more intelligent than us as his mind is open, and the world to him is unexplored and wonderful. When we grow older, this beauty of life goes unnoticed and we become prone to dogmas and that's how our mind closes up.

The process of learning must never stop. It is when we block out all possibility of learning that we become truly messed up and stuck in life. If you are not ready to accept the new your mind will rot.
Now about the bored thing, one fellow asked him, "why do we get bored easily?" and to that he said that boredom is something he himself has never experienced. Boredom is that induced state of mind when it is blocked. You get bored when you're so involved with your own shit, when you're psychologically self involved, when all your mental process revolve around you. You need to SYNCHRONISE yourself like you do with your iPod, with life and all it's little delights.

The idea he kept insisting upon is, that life should have the singular object of finding who you really are. And you have to make yourself the best contribution to the world. He said the only way you can really do that is if you are happy. When you feel ecstatic, you'll have effortless and sustainable relationships and life will be short and happy. If you are depressed everything around you becomes depressed. Live life as a happy person and you shall never have to deal with any unpleasantness. How nice right? We only make things complicated for ourselves. Life could be so much simpler. In all this sorrow and misery around us, the least we can do is make ourselves the best you could offer to the world. I know this sounds Miss India ish but it's also so true. You can't deny it.

Like I say sometimes, think you are a product you are solely in charge of marketing and do all that you can to be the best in terms of quality, and whatever else you may like! :P

The sadhu's name is Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev. You can google him if you're more interested!

Um. I also wanted to blog about something else but I can't quite remember it now. Ha. Keep it for later, I shall. Anyhow this post is LONG!

Toodles, bitches.

OH OH and a picture I would like to share that I clicked today. I am going to make this a ritual--every time I blog, I will put a picture :)

The view from my window.
Yes some call me privileged.

ChAI

I used AI to make my chai this morning.   Why? Because I wanted to see if I’d still get that dopamine hit from something I didn’t even make....
