Sierra


Her eyelashes glittered in the rays of the sun
The eyes beneath danced with joy
She was the Chosen One.
To her, it was bestowed the power to fly alone.
For sixty-eight days she lived in the stratosphere
Ate a doughnut in the clouds she called her home
Not once she felt the desire to descend
Until now that is.
No longer did her cheeks flush with glee
Her eyes lay still and mouth numb
She longed for the life downstairs
Realization hit, it was always lonely at the top of the world.
